COMENTARIO:

Penúltimo concierto antes de un merecido descanso de casi un mes. Sting y su banda recabaron en Colmar, una pequeña localidad francesa en la que unos primigenios The Police, con Henry Padovani aún en sus filas, telonearon a la banda Dr. Feelgood un 29 de mayo de 1977. 40 años más tarde Sting triunfaba por todo lo grande con sus viejas y nuevas canciones. En este Festival también participaron Les Insus, Renaud y The Pixies.

CONCIERTO EN LES SOIRÉES DE LA CITADELLE, SAINT-TROPEZ (FRANCIA). (29/7/2017).

COMENTARIO:

Concierto muy exclusivo que tuvo lugar en Saint-Tropez. En 2009 dieron la vuelta al mundo unas imágenes de Sting y Trudie de vacaciones de verano con la ex modelo Cindy Crawford y su marido precisamente allí. Sting y Trudie aprovecharon la estancia allí para acudir a una fiesta y hacerse públicas muestras de cariño, demostrando que son una pareja indestructible. En este Festival también participaron IAm y Benjamin Biolay.

CONCIERTO EN ARTE E MUSICA MANTOVA, PIAZZA SORDELLO, MANTOVA (ITALIA). (28/7/2017).

COMENTARIO:

Segundo y último Festival que Sting daría en Italia. En las redes sociales lanzaba al público el siguiente mensaje: “No olvidéis esta noche la magia bajo las estrellas”. Fue un estupendo conciertos con algunas anécdotas: durante “Every little thing she does is magic” un mosquito se metió en la boca del cantante interrumpiéndolo. La versión de “Can’t stop thinking about you” fue notablemente más breve ya que Sting la cantó suprimiendo la primera estrofa y el primer estribillo. “50.000” por su parte se presentó en una versión más instrumental, Sting solamente repitió su estribillo. En este Festival también participaron Alvaro Soler y Elton John.

COMENTARIO:

Sting volvió a tocar después de 20 años en el Anfiteatro romano de Istria, construido hace 2.000 años y probablemente el mejor conservado del mundo. Aprovechando su visita al país se le reconoció con el Special Merit Award. El repertorio se reforzó y volvieron a tocarse dos temas que se habían aparcado en los últimos conciertos: “Petrol head” y “One fine day”. Dos días después volvería a Italia para dar otro concierto, país desde el que partió hacia Croacia.

CONCIERTO EN PARCO DELLA LESA, CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI (ITALIA). (25/7/2017).

El concierto tuvo el mismo repertorio que el del día 23 de julio.

COMENTARIO:

Primero de las dos paradas que Sting hizo en su querida Italia, donde desde finales de 90 reside. Aunque presentó un repertorio algo más breve: no estaba la ecologista “One fine day” ni la adrenalítica “Petrol head”, Sting y su banda ofrecieron un conciertazo que fue muy disfrutado por el público. Debía ser una noche fresca porque Sting apareció con una chaqueta sobre su indumentaria habitual. Sting se alojó en Trieste durante su estancia en Italia, comiendo en Chimera di Bacco, antes de dirigirse a su siguiente parada en Croacia.

COMENTARIO:

Sting tocó en el Würth Open Air 2017, un evento que anualmente reúne a más de 30.000 personas y que este año también contaba con la presencia de la Filarmónica de Würth y el grupo tecno Sam und Bausa. Hubo algunos cambios con respecto al anterior concierto dado en Alemania, en Regensburg Castle, no se comenzó con la acústica “Heading South on the great North road” sino con “Synchronicity II”, y sí se tocó “If I ever lose my faith in you”. Algunos temas de “57th & 9th” volvieron a caerse del set, “One fine day” y sorprendentemente el potente “Petrol head”, que vez primera en todo el tour se quedó fuera del repertorio elegido.

Tercer Festival en Alemania de los cinco que Sting haría en este segundo tramo europeo de su tour “57th & 9th”. Estuvo en Mönchengladbach y Dresden, y más adelante también tocaría en Künzelsau-Gaisbach y Uelzen. Volvió a tocarse en éste concierto “Heading South on the great North road”, pero a cambio se prescindió de su hit en solitario “If I ever lose my faith in you”. El percusionista marroquí Rhani Krija fue el invitado sorpresa de este concierto y tocó con Sting y su banda durante “Desert rose”. En este Festival también participaron Amy McDonald, Ronan Keating, Zucchero, Art Garfunkel y José Carreras.

Sting ya participó en este Festival en julio de 2013, en aquella ocasión colaboró en vivo con él, el trompetista Ibrahim Maalouf. Se sumaron canciones desaparecidas en las ultimas actuaciones como “One fine day”, “Mad about you” o “I can’t stop thinking about you”. En este Festival también participaron Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Buddy Guy, Tom Jones, Wayne Shorter Quartet, Branford Marsalis Quartet featuring Kurt Elling, Macy Gray, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Anoushka Shankar y Jamie Cullum.

COMENTARIO:

Después de tocar en un Festival de España, Sting viajó hasta Locarno para participar en el Festival Moon & Stars, llenando con facilidad la Piazza Grande. En este Festival también participaron LP, Zucchero, Ami McDonalds, Jamiroquai e Imagine Dragons.

En este Festival también participaron Bastille, Tom Chaplin o Scorpions. Tan solo 17 temas se tocaron, también se prescindió del imprescindible “So lonely”. Uno de los conciertos más breves de todo el tour. Las actuaciones de Scorpions y Sting agotaron todas sus entradas. Durante su estancia en Portugal, Sting se fotografió con el equipo del Restaurante Casa de Cha en donde comió antes de su concierto en Vila Nova de Gaia.

COMENTARIO:

Sting y su banda tocaron exactamente el mismo repertorio que en el Festival de Sión (Suiza) dos días antes. El público del Festival Musilac volvió a ser testigo, al igual que el Festival de Lille (el pasado 25 de junio), de una colaboración en vivo impagable. El trompetista Ibrahim Maalouf volvió a aportar su sonido a “Desert rose”. Como curiosidad Sting cambió su habitual atuendo, la camiseta azul la cambió por una de listas rojas y marrones. En este Festival también participaron Airbourne, Die Antwoord, Birdy, The Lumineers, Texas, Justice y Jamiroquai.

Al día siguiente de tocar en Austria, Sting participaba en un conocido Festival de Suiza, Sous Les Etoiles, en Sión. Nuevamente para cumplir el formato Festival se quedaron fuera 3 temas: “I can’t stop thinking about you”, “One fine day” y “Mad about you”. El francés Michel Sardou y Sting fueron las estrellas de esta jornada de los cinco días que duró el Festival, en el que también participaron Roger Hodgson, David Guetta y Zucchero.

COMENTARIO:

Sting y su banda lograron reunir a 9.000 personas frente al impresionante castillo austriaco de Burg Clam. En esta actuación se recuperaron los temas “I can’t stop thinking about you”, “One fine day”, “Mad about you” y “Spirits in the material world”, pero no se tocaron “Driven to tears”, que se tocó en el Festival Desferlantes únicamente por que allí pudieron contar con Peter Tickell para el incendiario solo final de violín, ni la recién estrenada “If I ever lose my faith in you”. En este Festival también participaron Canned Heat, Die Seer, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Kris Kristofferson, Zucchero y Elton John.

COMENTARIO:

Sting participó por segunda vez en este Festival, ya lo hizo en 2012 durante la larga gira “Back to bass”. En aquella ocasión fue igualmente cabeza de cartel por delante de The Specials. En este concierto tuvo lugar una sorpresa muy destacada, se tocó por primera vez en la gira el tema “Driven to tears” aprovechando que el violinista Peter Tickell, que participó en toda la “Back to bass”, que estaba de gira en ese momento con la joven cantante Birdy, actuaba como telonero de Sting. Peter salió a escena para tocar con sus viejos camaradas causando el delirio del público. El añadido de “Driven to tears” hizo que no se tocara “Spirits in the material world”. En esta edición del Festival también pasaron Feder, Jain, Renaud, DJ Snake, Kungs, Ibrahim Maalouf e Iggy Pop.
